what are the functions of power modulator?

Answer / mahesh p
a. Modulates the power flow from source to the motor in such
a way that the motor is imparted speed-torque
characteristics required by the load.
b. During transient operations, such as staring, braking and
speed reversal, it restricts source and motor currents
within permissible values; excessive current drawn from
source may overload it or may cause a voltage dip.
c. Converts electrical energy of the source in the form
suitable to the motor, e.g. if the source is D.C and the
Induction motor is to be driven, then the power modulator is
required to convert the DC into a variable frequency AC.
d. Selects the mode of operation of the motor i.e. motoring
or braking.

A power modulator is a device that is used to control the power flow in an electrical system. It is typically used in high-power applications such as in electric drives, pulsed power systems, and high-power microwave systems. The primary function of a power modulator is to modulate the electrical power to achieve the desired output.
