plz explain the snubber circuit unit

plz explain the snubber circuit unit..

Answer / prerna

snubber ckt is a series combination of a resistor and a
capacitor. this combination is mainly used across a
thyristor. capacitor reduces the rapid rise in voltage,i.e.
dV/dt, across the thyristor whereas the resistor suppresses
the surge current which would flow across the thyristor.
