Answer / sridhar,psgtech
generating 33kv that will reduce the current flow
transmission line so line loss will be reduced and step
down to 11kv for distributing to consumer

for generation of 33kv we require large alternators thus
increase the initial investment of plant.

Answer / ajaya kumar.v
Normally all generating stations will generate voltage less
than 11Kv since of the isulation above 11kv, the size of
the equipment will increase. For transmission it has been
stepped up for reducing the loss in transmission &
generally the distribution system will operate on safe
voltages ie <4440V.

Answer / vikas
Generally all the Industrial equipments are designed for 3ph
440v & domestic equip. for 1ph 230V so its easy to step down
11KV instead of 33/66KV to minimise cost of equipment as
well as losses.
Moreover for transmission of longer
range Voltage has to step up to minimise transmission losses
due to I^2R .and again has to be step down to reduce the
operating cost of equipment.
