Rectifier
The rectifier is a device which is used to convert the A.C (which comes from the Mains line) to D.C (To store in a battery). When there is supply from the mains (A.C), the UPS starts to charge its battery in the form of D.C supply. This A.C to D.C conversion is done by the main components of a Rectifier, the Diode and Capacitor.
The Diode is the main device to convert A.C to D.C, and the capacitor is used to filter the A.C harmonics in D.C supply. (Harmonics – Residues of A.C which will be usually present with D.C after conversion).
Battery
It is the only device which can store electricity. The battery charges when there is supply fro mains and discharges (supplies) at the time of power-cut.
Inverter
The stored energy is in the form of D.C. So, to convert the stored energy again to A.C (supply form), a Device called Inverter is used. The inverter works in contradiction to a rectifier. It converts the D.C from a Battery to A.C for supplying the CPU.

UPS means Uninterrupted power supply.
it has a rectifier circuit, a battery bank and an inverter
circuit. battery bank is connected in parallel to the
circuit joining rectifier and inverter. normally battery
will be charging, when power fails, dc power from battery is
inverted to AC and supplied to the load.

Uninterruptible power supply is a device that is used to
provide power(Ac) whenever main supply fail and also to
protect load from spikes, surgs and transients during main
supply present.
Main parts of UPS are input/output filters, rectifier,
inverter,transfer switch and batteries.

main parts of UPS are REACTIFIER,BATTERIES, INVERTER
Rectifier: converts the AC supply to DC sypply
Batteries: It will be charged by DC supply, and gives the
supply during the supply interruption.
Inverter: It inverts the DC to AC supply.

the ups unit consists of battery, rectifier and inverter, the battery unit isconnected parrellel to the main supply, normally the current will flow through the mains at the same time the battery gets charged, when ever the main supply fails , the battery will supply power to the load, the battery unit consists of capacitors to store the charges, rectifier unit converts ac-dc, and inverter again converts dc-ac and feed the load.
