why transformer not work in dc

Answer / satish mankar
if,x'mer works in d.c supply,then flux is constant,no e.m.f
is produced,if back e.m.f does not produced the ckt will
draw a more current and causes heating of the winding and
x;mer will damage

Answer / aman jangra
transformer not working in d.c because the muatual induction
zero due to no frequency present in d.c as compare to ac
voltage.and no induction in primary winding ...and then
transformer not working.

Answer / masna awan
because d.c has zero frequency. so no flux produce in
primary coil and low resistance pass high current and
primary coil will burn.

Answer / bhavsar.malay
because of this two reasons..
1)transformer works on principle of electromagnetic
induction...
hense, there is no change in the voltage source with respect
to time so, there won't be induced of emf in either of the
coil...
and so there won't any output appearing on the secondary..
EFFICIENCY=0
2)if the DC suppluy is given the there may be POSSIBILITY
OF THE SATURATION OF CORE MATERIAL WHICH MAY CAUSE DAMAGE
TO TRANSFORMER...
hence for dc supply transformer can not work,
and for just testing purpose only dc supply is given up to
certain ranges..

Answer / minal
Since dc has both potential(ie +ve & -ve)so if it passed
through primary of the transformer then its windings get
burned. That is why transformer doesnot work on dc.
