STAR Connection:
i)Supply voltage is VL/root3 but supply current
IL(line)=Iph(phase).
DELTA connection:
i)supply voltage is VL=Vph but supply current
is differ.
Both supply used in speed control of induction motor.
Transmission point of viwe delta is better.
Application point of viwe star is better.

In continuation to Answer 1, both are having their own
importance depending up on usage. How ever where neutral is
required star system will be adopted.

Star Connection:
1. It is a setup where in one end of each phase is
connected together so as to form a neutral.
2. It is used for variable loadings
3. The line current = Phase current
4. The Line voltage = sqrt(3)* Phase volatge.
DELTA CONNECTION:
1. It is a setup where in one end of one phase is joined to
starting end of another end so a ring is completed.
2. It is used for balanced loads.
3. There is no neutral in here
4. Line current = sqrt(3)*phase current
5. Line voltage = phase voltage.
line volt- voltage taken from two live wire= voltage taken
from one live neural connection

star is only used intial to because the supply voltage is
VL/root3 and due to high starting torque of induction
motor,'star delta circut used above 20kw.

IN STAR CONNECTION THE LINE CURRENT EQUAL TO THE PHASE
CURRENT AND LINE VOLTAGE GREATER THAN PHASE VOLTAGE ,
VPH=VL/ROOT3 AND IN DELTA CONNECTION THE LINE CURRENT
GREATER THAN PHASE CURRENT , IL=IPH X ROOT3 AND LINE
VOLTAGE IS EQUAL TO PHASE VOLTAGE AND FINALLY BOTH
CONNECTIONS ARE VERY USEFUL IN THE 3 PHASE SYSTEM.

For transmission, delta connection is suitable while for
distribution system, star connection is sutable because
nuetral is available in star connection.
| Is This Answer Correct ? | 15 Yes | 3 No |
Answer / rajkumar voorugonda
star connection is used when we need nuetral ,
d connection can be used to decrease the circulating
current in the system

Answer / nardos negash
4 transmition and 4 the motor at rated speed delta is
better b/c the current in delta is small/line at its
voltage than in Y so it saves the winding and the
insulation from over heating.

Answer / rahul
In star connection neutarl is already provided, so when we need neutral, we shold use star connection.
delta connection is used to reduce the effect of circulating current in the circuit.
| Is This Answer Correct ? | 14 Yes | 6 No |
Answer / glen
delta is prefered becoz it torque and power is greater as
compared to star connection
star is only used initial to becoz of the Supply voltage is
VL/root3 thus preventing drop in the line

Our Alternator nameplate specifies a power factor of 0.8. When the Alternator is on light load, the bus bar voltage rises to 11240 volts, whereas the standard value is 10500 volts. Is it ok to increase the power factor to 0.85 or 0.9. I am afraid because the power factor on the name plate is only 0.8 ?
