PROCESS CONTROL - EXAMPLE 6.1 : In a Laplace Transform Table, the Laplace transfer function of f(t) is F(s). When d(t) = f(t) then 1 = F(s). When x(t) = f(t) then X(s) = F(s). If d(t) is the impulse of a spring when d(t) = kx(t), then derive the equation for the impulse of a spring as X(s) in term of k. Next question : A controller has a transfer function a and the other controller has a transfer function b. The overall transfer function of both controllers is ab. What is the transfer function overall when both controllers have similar transfer function 1 / (Cs + k)?

ACCOUNTING AND FINANCIAL ENGINEERING - EXAMPLE 34.23 : An engineering company would like to produce 10000 units of control instruments. Let selling price per unit = $10, variable cost per unit = $2, overall fixed cost = $30000. (a) Calculate the income obtained when all units are sold out successfully. (b) Find the overall cost of production. (c) Calculate the percentage of gross profit obtained based on the answers in (a) and (b). (d) Find the minimum units that need to be sold out successfully in order to prevent losses. (e) How many minimum units of instruments that need to be produced in order to prevent losses, if all units produced are sold out successfully?

MY generator water cooler inlet line height - 11 mtr inlet water line height - 7 mtr water come into the line from overhead tank, O/H tank height - 20 mtr the first tapping in the inlet line is 2" line which down to 4 mtr level plateform., second tapping in inlet water line goes to a pump 6" line installed at 4 mtr level plateform, pump capacity 200m3/hr, head- 30 mtr, hp-40. the outlet of pump of 6" water line connected to a header of 6 mtr long of 6" line, on this header the six tapping are connected, 4 nos. 3" line goes to 11 mtr height water cooler the pressure of the line is 0.15 to 0.25 kg/cm2, 2" and 4" pipe line connected to a cooler at 4 mtrlevel plateform. my question is, at 11 mtr height level the quantity of water and flow is not sufficient for my cooler, the temp. of cooler is rises much more. you are requested to suggest the modification of pipe line/ pump for take more water flow and pressure (desired pressure is 1 kg/cm2)

ACCOUNTING AND FINANCIAL ENGINEERING - EXAMPLE 34.30 : A biochemical engineering sales contract adopts Cost Recovery Method in its company accounting. Gross profit is realised only when cash collections exceed the total cost of goods sold. Let Y = Original Cost Recovered, Z = Gross Profit Realised. Its property was sold at A = $500k with cost of B = $300k. Its engineering accountant receives cash of C = $240k in first year, D = $180k in second year and E in third year. (a) Find the values of Y and Z in : (i) first year; (ii) second year; (iii) third year. (b) What is the exact value of E if all cash has been fully received from sales?
