A differential pressure (d.p.) transmitter can be used to measure the level in an open tank by creating a differential pressure across a fixed orifice located at different heights within the tank. The d.p. transmitter measures the difference in pressure between two points: one above the orifice and another below it.nnWhen the fluid level rises, the area exposed to the atmospheric pressure increases, resulting in a decrease in pressure above the orifice and an increase in differential pressure that can be read by the transmitter.nnTo apply a d.p. Transmitter to an open tank, it is essential to select an appropriate orifice size and height, taking into account the fluid properties, temperature, and pressure conditions.
