A DP transmitter is used to measure the level of an open tank.
The drain line of the tank is connected to a control valve, and is configured as, if the level of the tank is 90% the valve should get open 10%. And if the tank level is 10%, the valve should get open 90%. Draw wiring diagram and explain how to configure DP transmitter and control valve using HART communicator.
If the span error at output is 1%, what will be the %opening of the control valve at 60% level of the tank?
Answer / Sonu Singh
To wire a DP transmitter and control valve with a HART communicator, follow these steps:
1. Connect the pressure tap from the bottom of the open tank to the DP transmitter's input.
2. Connect the transmitter output to the control valve input.
3. Wire the HART communicator to the DP transmitter according to the manufacturer's instructions.
4. Configure the transmitter and valve using the HART communicator, setting up the desired proportional relationship between tank level and control valve opening.
5. To find the %opening of the control valve at 60% level of the tank, we can use the following formula:n Control Valve Opening = (Tank Level - Tank Minimum Level) / (Tank Maximum Level - Tank Minimum Level) * (Valve Maximum Opening - Valve Minimum Opening) + Valve Minimum Opening.nAssuming the tank has a maximum level of 100%, a minimum level of 10%, and the valve opens from 0% to 100% as the tank level changes, we can calculate the control valve opening at 60% level:n Control Valve Opening = (60 - 10) / (100 - 10) * (100 - 0) + 0 = 40%
