Earthing Resistance can be maintained by adding
water,charcoal & salt per month,Not only by adding those
three, Its rusted bolt& Nuts must be renewed by new one for
every three month,this maintenance should be varied depand
upon the climatic conditions, such as in rainy season.Earth
pit must be fenced with cement.

by pouring water ,charkol and salt is used but it is old
method.use pouring of Bentonite powder by using water.
Also to reduce earth resistance by parralel resistance to
earth mesh.it cen achived upto 2ohm.

monthly check of earthing resistance by good earth

earthing is increasing

Better to use stainless steel bolts nuts and washers since
GI ones tend to deteriorate and get corroded after a long
time and it becomes difficult to open the bonding,
connection for taking measurements.
Simple method is pour lot of salt and water around the
earth electrode and surely you will get a very good value
of earth resistance instantly.

Any one can explain if there is any harm from humming noise heard from air circuit breaker : we have 415 switch board having two incomers from transformers 3.3KV/415V , when bus coupler closed, and open one ACB incomer to work in one of the transformers, the current started hunting around 50 Amps, and heard humming noise from the air circuit breaker, although the load current was only 1200 amps while the ACB capacity is 2500 Amps, and the transformer 1600 KVA. The same didn't happen when taken the other transformer offline. Why this humming noise and current fluctuation? is there any implication or danger, bearing in mind that we just returned everything back to normal and stopped the maintenance of the transformer. Shall we go ahead and ignore this noise?
