to avoid the harmonics mainly as during the starting due to the inrush currents "nd harmonic component is generated so to avoid it and give us the perfect supply we are doing this..
mainly to avoid the harmonics and different errors

it is to allowed the rush current to induce maximum flush in to the field for stability so that there will be not fluctuation in supply voltage to the locality due to in rush currents.
