There is no difference. In American system, it is called
Grounding and in British system, it called Earthing.

Grounding: Connecting the live part (part which carries current under normal conditions) to the ground (earth).It is done for protection of devices under fault conditions.
EX: Transformer neutral
Earthing: Connecting the dead part (part which does not carry current under normal operating conditions) to the ground. It is done for protection of operators who operates the device.

grounding is use to protect the instruments from flow of
large current while earthing is the old name of grounding
done by the peoples for both purposes 1_to save the
instruments from the large current 2_to increase the level
of voltage in case of low voltage by giving water to that
place where earthing is carried out

when a single circuit is earthed is called grounding but in case of more that on circuit is earthed is called earthing
