project site?

Answer / mahesh sali
THE CAPACITY OF TRANSFORMER USED FOR SITE APPLICATION SHALL
BE CALCULATED BY FOLLOWING CONSIDERATION;
CAL.TOTAL CONNECTED LOAD
BASE ON KW & ASSUMATION OF 0.8 P.F.
CAL. THE KVA/ MVA RATING OF X'MER I.E. KW/0.8
AFTER GETTING KVA/MVA ADD THE 20% IN CAL.KAV/MVA
I.E. KVA/MVA + 0.2*KVA/MVA
20% EXTRA AS PER IEEE RULE
AS PER IEEE NORM ,UR TRANSFORMER SHOULD BE LOADED AT 80% OF
UR FULL CAPACITY OF UR TRANSFOMER.
I HOPE ABOVE INF. IS SUFFICIENT.
THANKING U

Example
We have Power load 2300KVA
So
Transformer Capacity=2300×1.4
1.4 is Power rate

Hi Mr.Mahesh
Can you please forward the IEEE rule showing the
transformer loading of 80% of full load as you
discussed....Kindly forward it to my email id
sivaguru_691984@yahoo.co.in...
Even we haven't took tr. loading factor for all our
projects and we will be really educated by pupil like you
for the need of consideration of transformer loading
factor...

Now a days...
we calculated the connected load ...in KW and 40%
assumption load will be added
Transformer cap=60% load connected +40%

Calculate all connected loads(KW) Assume Fans as 65Watt,15A sockets as 1000Watt, 5A Sockets at 1ooWatt, TV at 120 Watt Computer at 120Watt, Printer/Scanner/Copier at 1000Watt, A/C 1.5 Ton at 1.5KW
Apply diversity Factor since all loads will not be working at the same time always
Divide the single phase loads into 3 parts. (KW)
Then add three phase loads and i/3rd single phase loads(KW)
add 20% extra to this calculated gross KW
Divide by power factor 0.8 to get KVA Rating of transformer.
At this point you may add another 20% to the rating as a factor of safety and reliability since most machine work comfortably at 75 to 80% loading
Now decide the actual rating of transformer in proper slab as the standard ratings transformer are available in are 10KVA,16KVA,25KVA,63KVA,100 KVA, 125KVA, 160KVA, 200KVA, 250KVA, 500KVA in 11KV range.

mostly the questions were from machines... d.c. machines, transformer, synchronous and induction all theory paper........ few from power system... but the level of paper was easy.....
