To place a transmitter below a steam drum tap, you would first need to measure the distance from the top of the drum to the desired location for the transmitter. If the height of the drum is 1000mm, and you want to place the transmitter at 500mm from the bottom, then you calculate the total height as 1000mm + 500mm = 1500mm (or 1.5 meters).

For calculating the required cable length between the transmitter and the tap, you would measure the distance horizontally between them.
