25kv AC line normally used, current collector pentograph is
used to collect current then this power transform to a lower
level(voltage) by transformer. now this power is converted to
DC and used to drive DC motors. these DC Motors drive the
train.
25 KV AC supply collected from the Grid and transmitted in the
railway grid along the tracks boosters are arranged at
different section to maintain voltage level.

we convert 66kv to 33 kv to 11kv to 440v. why can't we directly convert 33kv to 440 ?
