AI- means input of 4-20mA comes from transmitter to DCS
AO- means output of 4-20mA comes from the controller on DCS
DI- means input of 0 and 1 comes from switch to DCS
DO- means output of 24VDC come from DCS going to solenoid.

AO means DCs or PLC genarated or field genarated signals going to control process parameters...ex control valves input 4 to 20ma
DI its logic signal 0 or 1 state came from electrical VFD drives or field...
DO its logic signal genarated in DCs to control feild process parameters..ex solenoid valves
