where HT & LT capacitor uses ?..

Answer / maprayil

Capacitors are of many types, viz, power capacitors, energy
storage capacitors, microfarad capacitors, surge protection
capacitors etc. From your question, it appears that you
are referring to Power Capacitor. LT capacitors are used
in single phase (230V) or 3 phase (415V) system for
reactive power compensation where the loads are inductive
in nature. As far as HT capacitors are concerned, this can
be of any voltage denomination viz., 11 KV, 22 KV, 33 KV,
66 KV, 132 KV, 400 KV etc. Generally these type of
capacitors are installed on the secondary side of power
transformers.

where HT & LT capacitor uses ?..

Answer / rajendra

These capacitors are designed for protection of large
rotating machines such as motors & generators. At the time
of over voltage during electric storms produces surges to
electrical equipments connected to system. The voltage
stress between turns of multi turn coil sets a limitation
and surge voltage causes breakdown of turn to turn
insulation resulting in short circuited turns.
