Suppose you have hot fluid and cold water, what fluid you should flow in shell side and tube side i..

Answer / sagar mashru

Hot oil should be passed from tube side to prevent the heat
loss and it is desirable from safety point of view.

Suppose you have hot fluid and cold water, what fluid you should flow in shell side and tube side i..

Answer / hemant jansari

Generally hot fluid should be kept in tube side and cold
fluid sould be kept in shell side for better heat transfer.
But as per operation point of view high corrosive fluid
flow in tubeside for less maintenance. It is depended on
operating condition and cost.

Suppose you have hot fluid and cold water, what fluid you should flow in shell side and tube side i..

Answer / nameh

hot and cold fluids are not well defined. the most important
criteria for tube side fluid selection is corrosive
potential, scale deposition possibility and maintenance
requirements. upon exact definition of fluids; information,
specially hot fluid, the judgement can be performed.

Suppose you have hot fluid and cold water, what fluid you should flow in shell side and tube side i..

Answer / gopi

the answer depends on the situation. like for example if i
want to condense the hot liquid then i will pass hot liquid
in tube side and & cold liquid on shell side. and if i want
to heat the fluid then we will pass hot liquid in shell side
& cold liquid in tube side for getting more heat transfer area.

Is This Answer Correct ?    3 Yes 3 No

Suppose you have hot fluid and cold water, what fluid you should flow in shell side and tube side i..

Answer / dabhi mahesh

If hot fluid no phase
change than pass
though tube side
increase heat transfer
area. And hot fuid
phase change than
pass though shell
side,cold fuid transfer
area increased.

Is This Answer Correct ?    1 Yes 1 No

Suppose you have hot fluid and cold water, what fluid you should flow in shell side and tube side i..

Answer / mehul patel

no, cool water is to be pass through tubr side is
desirable, due to ease of maintenance reason and safety
point of view also.

PROCESS CONTROL - EXAMPLE 6.2 : A stream with volumetric flow rate Q enters a cylindrical tank and a stream with volumetric flow rate q exits the tank. The fluid has a constant heat capacity and density. There is no temperature change or chemical reaction occurring in the tank. Develop a model for determining the height of the tank, h. Let V is the volume, A is the cross sectional area, r is the density, m is the mass, where V and A are for the tank, r and m are for the fluid. The rate of mass of fluid accumulation, dm / dt = (Q - q) r. Prove the model to be dh / dt = (Q - q) / A.

BIOCHEMICAL ENGINEERING INSTRUMENTATION - EXAMPLE 29.4 : The resolution of separation, Rs for chromatography is given by the formula Rs = (difference in retention time) / (average width at the base). In a chromatogram, 3 peaks a, b and c are found. Average widths W at the bases of the solutes are : Wa = 20 s, Wb = 40 s, Wc = 30 s. Resolutions of separation, Rs for solutes b and c in comparison to a are 2 and 4 respectively. The differences in retention times T for b and c in comparison to a are (Tb - Ta) and (Tc - Ta), Ta = Tc - Tb : (a) Form 2 equations involving Rs as a function of Wa, Wb, Wc, Ta, Tb and Tc. (b) Find the values of Ta, Tb and Tc.
