Why transformer called by KVA?
Answers were Sorted based on User's Feedback
Answer / fahad
bcoz the power factor of load is not known during the
manufacturing, this is also done during load calculation.
For reference you can see a indian book " B.L Theraja -
Electrical Technology" ....

bcoz iron losses depdens on voltage and copper losses
depends on current that's why transformer rated in KVA

Transformer is not consider the power factor so its
capacity is in KVA

Answer / mathivanan k
the pf will be indipendent to the trf,the pf only act at
load equipment side only
so the trf is not load
and it's losses depending copper&coreloss then only it is
mention in VA it is bulk amount so KVA

Mainly reason for no-load current consumption of transformer in losses hysteresis loss and eddy current loss.
| Is This Answer Correct ? | 0 Yes | 1 No |
Answer / realas
Because the flowing of current in secondary winding is
without/no losses so the apparent power is zero. Hence, the
transformer may call either by KVA or KW since it is equal.
