Answer / yallappa
A diode is a two terminal electronic component. A diode is
a semiconductor, that allows the flow of current in only one
direction nad it shows the zero resistance in forward bias
and infinite resistance in the reverse bias. So it is a uni
derectional.

IT IS ELECTRONIC COMPONENT THAT SHOWS ZERO RESISTANCE IN
FORWARD BIAS AND INFINITE RESISTSNCE IN REVERSE BIAS.IT IS
A BI-DIRECTION DEVICE.
diode is working on principal of flow of charge carriers
from one side to another side due to difference in charege
concentration.it's unidirectional device.
When diode is reverse biased,p type is connected to -ve
terminal of the battery and n type is connected to +ve
terminal of the battery. In p type the holes are attracted
to -ve terminal of the battery and in n type the electrons
are attracted to +ve terminal of the battery. The width of
the depletion region is thick.Because of the minority
charge csrriers current flows in the reverse bias.

it is a unidirectional device for the diffusion charges
from higher conc. to lower conc. passing through potential
barrier thus it works as a switch
