in 132 kv substation ligtning arrestor(120 kv) connected to
line. but line voltage comes to 132 kv, it operate or
not???

Ligtning Arrestors are connected across one phase and
earth. Hence,the insulation of the arrestor shall be
suitable for only phase voltage. that is, 132kv/root3 =
76KV.Hence, these 120 KV LA will operate very well.

the lightinig arrestor connected with line in parrallel
then the volage range will divided by root 3.so the
insulation level of the arrester is suitadable for 132kv
system

In any conductor of 132 KV transmission line rated voltage
with respect to ground(remember LA is connected between one
conductor/phase and earth)is 76(approx) KV so 120 KV is
adequate
