a simpal lamp can operate on ac and dc bouth.beause of a
lamp can ignite just beause of current passed throught
filament and light emmition from it and light can appear
from it

Incandecent lamp only to operating both ac & dc supply .
all otherhivh poer ratting lamps are working in ac supply.
small change will carried out the flurocent lamp it operate on the dc supply

operate on ac only. Coz bulb
is completeky inductive load.
And dc is free from
inductance, capacitance,
impedance. But u shud design
bulb operate on dc.

In electrical locomotive engines, the DC series motors is being used as traction motor. But in new engines like in WAP7 & WAG9 the 3-phase squiral cage induction motors has replaced them. So can someone tell me the advantages of induction motor over dc seris motor in engines points of view....???
