Answer / asmita
Gravels/metal is used in T/F yard for following purposes-
1.For providing gd earthing as it prevents growing of gross.
2.it prevents travelling of creatures like snake, rats etc
which may result in Short ckt if touchd live parts.
3.In case of oil leakage from C.B.it is well distributed
due to metal n doesnot result in fire.
4.Reason of Step potential n touch potential.

gravel surface increases the safety limit for touch and
step potential and hence our same design of earthing grid
becomes more safer.

Gravels having good earthing resistance, So that only we
have used for the same.

Answer / rakesh
gravels are used because gravels have less resistance due
to which it is very effective for earthing.

The gravels mainly serves two purposes,
since the core of the transformer experiences high
mechanical stresses which makes the transformer core vibrate
coz of which the complete apparatus vibrates, the poured
gravel absorbs these vibrations.
Secondly, the gravels provides a good earthing path for the
transformer.
