what is the role of id fan in a furnace?

Answer / mm
Id fan maintains the pressure equillibrium inside the
furnace by providing slightly negative pressure inside the
furnace, so that the gases are let out of the furnace to
the chimney. If the chimney height is more, it may not be
adequate to evacuate the gases in the furnace. Hence Id fan
acts as a booster to maintain draft in the furnace, though
some may be of the opinion that Id fan acts as a sucker of
the gases generated in the furnace thus avoiding explosive
gases to be let into the environment.

QUANTUM COMPUTING - EXAMPLE 32.3 : A system of linear congruences consists of 3 equations : X ≡ 1 (mod 3), X ≡ 3 (mod 5), X ≡ 4 (mod 6). X has positive values. (a) List the values of these equations from 1 to 35. Then find the minimum value of X. (b)(i) Find the least common multiple (LCM) of b = 3, 5 and 6 where X ≡ a (mod b). (ii) If b - a has the same value of all equations above, then X + (b - a) is divisible by LCM. Find the value of minimum value of X via LCM division.

Why in a continuous plant for a Hot standby screw pump system the interlock for auto starting of the other pump ( when the running pump stopped suddenly) is given with header pressure only? why not with flow rate or current of the pump?
MASS TRANSFER - EXAMPLE 4.3 : According to Adolf Eugen Fick (1829 - 1901) : rate of diffusion v increases with less wall thickness t, increased area A and decreased molecular weight of a fluid M. The diffusion constant D decreased with increasing M. (a) By assuming v, t, dP, A, M and D changes proportionally of each other, find the equation of v as a function of t, dP, A and D. (b) The ratio of self diffusion constant D, at T = 273 K and P = 0.1 MPa, for gases B and C are 1.604 : 0.155. If only 2 gases exist in such a system : hydrogen and nitrogen, find the type of gas for B and C with reference to their molecular weights M. (c) By using the equation of kinetic energy 0.5 MV = constant where V = square of v, find the ratio of V for B and V for C, or V(B) / V(C), as a function of M(B) and M(C), where M(B) is molecular weight of B and M(C) the molecular weight of C : Graham's Law of Diffusion.
PROCESS DESIGN - EXAMPLE 21.3 : According to a heuristic of chemical engineering plant design, assume a pressure difference dP = 4 psi for each 10-ft rise in elevation. A pump is needed to pump liquid from a storage tank at a lower elevation to a heating tank at a higher elevation with the elevation difference of 60 ft. (a) Find the pressure loss due to such elevation. (b) If the required minimum inlet pressure to the heating tank is 9 psi, with 1 control valve is installed between pump and heating tank, what is the dP minimum required for the control valve and the entrance to the heating tank when the heuristic mentions that at least 10 psi is required for the control valve? (c) The pressure at the inlet of the pump is 8 psi and the flowrate of the liquid produces pressure head of 50 psi. What is the total pressure produced by the pump? (d) Assume a pipeline dP of 2 psi / 100 ft for liquid flow in a pipe according to heuristic, what is the approximate maximum length of the pipe in ft that can be installed between the pump and the heating tank?

A cylinder with a movable piston contains 0.1 mole of a monoatomic ideal gas. The piston moves through state a, b and c. The heat Q, changes from state c to a is 685 J. The work W, changes from state c to a is -120 J. The work, W performed from state a to b then to c is 75 J. By using the first law of thermodynamic, U = Q W where U is the internal energy : (a) Determine the change in internal energy between states a and c. (b) Is heat added or removed from the gas when the gas is taken along the path abc? (c) Calculate the heat added or removed when the gas is taken along the path abc?
