As per American
Society of Mechanical Engineers
(ASME) the specific ratio - the
ratio of the discharge pressure
over the suction pressure – is
used for defining the fans,
blowers and compressors
Fans - Up to 1.11
Blowers- 1.11 to 1.20
Compressors - more than 1.20

fan is just used for air moving. Its blade are axailly bladed.
fans usually move large volumes of air at low pressure.
blower is a centrifugal fan, blower is a machine for moving
volumes of a gas with moderate increase of pressure.

Answer / ayyam perumal
IF THE COMPRESSION RATIO IS 1: 1, THAT IS FOR FAN,
IF THE COMPRESSION RATIO FROM 1:1 TO 1: 4, THEN IT IS
BLOWER,
IF THE COMPRESSION RATION IS ABOVE 1:4, THAT UNIT IS CALLED
AS COMPRESSOR

In Rankine cycle there is a concept of Tm(mean temp of heat addition)For calculating the efficiency of the cycle we generally use n=1-T2/T1 again Tm taking into consideration we get n=1-T2/Tm as T1>Tm so he efficiency will be different for same cycle. Can anybody explain how is it possible? advance appriciation for your effort
