Can transformer develop three phase power from a single
phase source?

Answer / ashok bhatnagar
There are two ways to do it :-
1. A single phase AC supply can be converted to two phase
by using a capacitor to provide 90 degree phase shift as
done in single hase AC motors. The two phase supply so
obtained can be converted to three phase using a scott
connected trasformer pair.
2. Use a single phase AC / universal motor to run a three
phase AC generator. The output will be three phase.

A transformer acn not develop three phase power from a
single
phase source.
deu to===========
01)-single phase has only one phase syquence.
02)-a three phase transformer has three phase primary
winding it need three phase rotating magnatic field that
can not achive bu a single phase source.
03)-if we will apply single phase source at three phase
transformer,s primary winding then only one primary coil
will exited for inducting so we can achive only single
phase power output.

FROM SINGLE PHASE TRANSFORMER 3 PHASE CAN BE OBTAINED BY
USING A PHASE SPLITER WHICH WILL MAKE THREE DIFFERENT PHASE
SEQUENCE.

Answer / alex antony
No. Phase converters or phase shifting devices such as reactors and capacitors are required to convert single phase power to three phase.
