in case of dg set there is no load for which it can develop lagging or leading power factor .it only produces power supply to be transferred.so its not virtue of dg .

Actually Power factor depends upon the load connected to the DG Sets,If the laod is resistive ,P.F will be 1,if inductive P.F will be lagging while in case of capactive load it will be leading.

because DG set its not act a load its producing power, its
not getting power ,so power factor occur only in loads like
motors,load bank ,any other suggestions welcome .
