The winding resistace varies according to the connection
of star / delta. When star connected motor, measured
resistance shows the value of two resitance in series.
When delta connected motor,measured resistance shows the
value of two resistance series and another resistace
parallel with them. So we can identify by the value of
resitance.

Also the phase current of motor is equal to line current
for star connected motor. For delta connected motor the
line current is 1.732 times of phase current.

Most nameplates wont say whether to connect in Delta or
Star but will show a Delta symbol or star symbol with a
voltage rating of current rating next to them. Sometimes a
symbol not even shown but 2 levels or voltage and currents.
This is because this gives you 2 choices of voltages to
connect to. Example if you have a 415V three phase supply
and your motor nameplate shows 230V Delta and 400V Star you
should connect the motor in Star. If it just shows 400V
this usually means you connect it in Delta. If you
connected this motor in Star it would not give you full
output power. These motors sometimes use a star, delta
starter which when in star runs at lower start current.

All 3 phase motor are winding with RYB 3 saperate coils winding started point and finished point so totale six connection you can do it easy star or delta using links in terminal s

As per my knowledge in star connections only three leads
are coming at terminal box.

And in star delta winding six leads are coming in terminal
box.


In star connection DOL starter are using.

In star delta starters

When pressing on button of starter the starter make star
connection after releasing the button starter makes delta
connection.
