I think Steel is more elastic becoz on melting it we can see t hat it melts by great extents. a good eg is that it is used to make products by moulding it into shapes of different sizes.
and if an object is elastic then only dis is possible
While rubber on seeing looks very elastic but actually we can only expand and contract it. so i dnt think it is much elatic in nature as compared to steel.

What is the defination of elasticity?
The material which regain it's original shape after removing the external load. Ryt?
In this way let's take a rubber and steel of same length & diameter.
Now apply the external force of same weight on the both the materials.
Tell me which will regain it's original position?
I think rubber will. rite?
Then in my opinion rubber is having higher elasticity than steel.

Recall what elastic means...it means the substance than can
regain its shape after the application of deforming forces
on it.
Steel is a much better elastic than rubber because for the
very same reason, it is very hard to deform it and if were
to do it, it will regain its shape back very quickly. Rubber
is very easy to stretch and can be broken without much effort.
This makes its young 's modulus very high indeed.

Steel is more elastic than rubber. We know that Young’s modulus is the ratio of stress to the strain. If the same force is applied to the wire of steel and rubber thread, which are of equal length and cross-section area, we will find that the extension in the rubber thread is much greater than extension in steel wire. Therefore, for a given stress, the strain produced in steel is much smaller than that produced in the rubber. This implies that Young’s modulus for steel is greater than that for rubber. Therefore, steel is more elastic than rubber.

steel is more elastic than rubber because more effort is needed to produce any permanent change in it than in rubber. in simple words a body which easily deformed is less elastic

Answer / madhu
rubber has got less elastic strength so as to regain its original shape it requires less load..and the steel has got high elastic strength it requires a large quantity of load therefore its ELASTIC PROPERTY IS LESS COMPARED TO RUBBER
