In a tractor wheel, why is the Disc polygonal in shape
(like a square, hexagon or octagon) whereas for Commercial
vehicles and Passenger Cars the wheel has a circular disc?

i think most of the time tractor will run in slippery land
that is moisture surface rather than road.so if it is in
circular section slippery may occur because of poor contact
area or poor co-efficient of friction.so if it is made
hexagonal the surface contact will be more rather than
rolling contact. so some polygonal shape is given to
tractor wheels

the disc designed for track width change, so from that
wheel disc and rim you can change for 4 steps of track
width, question was cutting on polygon shape make gap on rim
that all to pass out mud's and soil out during field application

To reduce the disc weight it's shape is like that.
The disc can take all the desire load.
