An automatic voltage regulator, or AVR is used in a
generator to control the output voltage.
The AVR varies the excitation voltage (on the rotor) to
produce the desired voltage on the output terminals.
It is required because the excitation voltage changes as
the load (and power factor) change.

The automatic voltage regulator, AVR is a voltage regulator
that monitors the voltage output of the generator in order
to regulate the excitation voltage fed onto the rotor poles
to obtained the desired voltage output.

AUTOMATIC VOLTAGE REGULATOR OR COMMONLY KNOWN AS STABILIZER IS TO GIVE REGULATED OUTPUT VOLTAGE.....
IT HAS MANY APPLICATIONS AND IT PREVENTS FROM UNDER AND OVER VOLTAGE FLUCTUATION...
AND SAGS ,SPIKES ,TRANSIENTS ,RUGGEDNESS IN VOLTAGES IS ALSO PREVENTED BY AVR
FOR ANY DISAGREEMENT MAIL ME AT parmar20072008@yahoo.com

As the name itself suggests, it is used for regulating the
voltage. We normally use it with our costly equipments,
like TV or refrigerator, to save them from dangerous
voltage fluctuations.
