WHATIS TIME CONSTANT? WHATIS ITS SIGNIFICANCE? ILLUSTRATE
THROUGH EXAMLES.
Answer / Sarvendra Kumar Rahul
Time Constant (τ) is a critical concept in electrical circuits. It represents the time required for an exponential decay or response to reach 63.2% of its final value. The time constant is calculated by multiplying the resistance (R) by the capacitance (C). Time constant has significance as it determines the rate of rise and fall of the voltage across a capacitor in various circuits, such as RC circuits. For example, in an RC circuit, if the time constant is small, the response will be fast, whereas if it is large, the response will be slow.
