Ohm's law applies to conductors whose resistance is
(substantially) independent of the applied voltage (or
equivalently the injected current). That is, Ohm's law only
applies to the linear portion of the I vs. V curve centered
around the origin. The equation is too simple to encompass
devices described by a more complicated I vs. V
relationship.

In a step up transformer we step up the voltage and reduce the current but ohm"S law say V=IR or voltage is directly proportional to current then howz it possible...?

regarding your answer,if i step up voltage at primary
side, then current step down, while resistance of the winding
remain same.....then how would u answer it?

no,
ohms law works for transformer.bu i donno how u r saying
that inductor is non liner and another thing is that how u
r saying that ohms law is applicable only for resistive
loads?

Answer / kavin
Ohm's law states that V is directly proportional to I for a
constant temperature. But in a transformer is the
temperature constant? NO.Due to joule heating effect energy
is lost as heat and hence temperature changes. Thus ohm's
law is not applicable for transformers.

Ohm law is applicable only for DC . But a transformer acts
on AC only . That is why a transformer does not obey ohm
law .
