working principle of UPS..

Answer / chandrahasan

The main building blocks of any given UPS (on-line, off-line
or stand-by) are the charger, inverter, static switch or
static disconnect and battery. The charger converts AC to DC
power which float charge is the battery and feeds
the inverter. The inverter converts DC to AC power, and the
static switch or static disconnect is a solid-state device
used to apply or disconnect AC power. The battery stores DC
power that is used as a back-up power source when
the utility power is not available.
