1. Earth is used in ac circuit for improve voltage capacity
Neutral is used for completing the path.
2. Earth is used as a neutral but neutral can't use as
earth.

The earth pin is larger than the phase & neutral pins since
the earth should be first connected when plug is inserted
into power socket and the last to come out when plug is
removed from power socket
