Earth:
Its for protect the human beings from electrical shock due
to any short conditions.Besides having low resistance
bath....Earth can act as neutral, but neutral cant.
Neutral:
Its return bath of Supply,it cant do the duty of earth.....

Answer / sanjay
Neutral provide us the return path for the power to
complete the closed circuit.
While the Earth is used to connect non current carrying
metallic parts to it to protect us from the leakage or
induced current due to generator action between the non
current carrying metalic parts and near by A.C. coil or
inductor.

earth and the neutral are two different things.
Earthing mean connecting of non current carry mettalic
parts directly to the great mass called earth.
and we found it every where.
While on the other hand
Neutral we have to create it.
for a star connection we get it from the point where all
the phases balances each other.
and for delta connection (if reqiured) we create it by
using zig-zag transformer.

earth is the path to flow the fault or leakage cirrent,
while neutral is the pathe to flow of unbalance current in
a closed circuit

Answer / sendhil
neutral: it act as return path
earth: it has no return path (which provide protection for
the system as well as operator during any short ckt
condition)

EARTH: In a residental supply system earthing works as a
ground to leakage inductive current & neutral works as a
complate circuit on the basis of electrical meter in a
residental supply system earth works as a neutral but
neutral does not work as a earth Now in a 3ph delta
connection neutral is not applicable but here earth is very
useful to prevent high shock for s.c & now in a 3ph star
connrction neutral or earth are useful to balance the
load

Answer / yaseen
FOR THE ELECTRICITY THERE SHOULD BE A RETURN PATH,THUS
OFTEN THE NEUTRAL ACTS AS A RETURN PATH.
FOR EVERY APPLIANCE THERE SHOULD BE A SAFE DEVICE TO
SAFEGUARD THE HUMAN BEING WHO CONTROLS THE EQUIPMENT THUS
THE EARTHING ACTS A SAFEGUARD TO PREVENT THE OPERATOR FROM
THE ELECTRIC SHOCK

Earth
- it is used for safety purpose. i.e whenever leakage
current pass through electric machine body, earth will
conduct directly to earth. So it is prevent electric shock
to human body.
- In 3 phase star connection its act as a neutral & same
point connected to ground.
Neutral
- It is one of the wire in AC circuit.
- It is used for return path of the circuit in single
phase & three phase.
- - earth can use as neutral but neutral can't use as earth.

neutral is generated in star connections & in three phase
it playas an important role in balancing the voltage.
and the earthing is low resistance path for flow of an
current. which is obtained from earth by earth electrode.
