Answer / fireprs
All the Generators produce ac currents(in accordance with
Faraday's Law).
In DC generator the generated ac voltage is converted into
DC through commutator, while in ac gen. ac voltage is
supplied.

the main difference is in dc we use split rings for
commutation which provide a phase shift of 180deg and in ac
we usr slipring.thus it all depends on the type of
commutator used

Answer / zalan
in ac generator slip rings are used which slides over
carbon brushes while in dc split rings are used and hence
dierct current flows,,now its my class time.bye

alternators are called ac generators, they are synchronous generators that runs at synchronous speed, ac&dc generators works on same principle of electromagnetic induction.in case of dc generator armature rotates and field remains stationary, where as in alternator field rotates and armature winding(stator winding) remains stationary. in case of alternator the generated voltage are taken out from the stator winding where as in dc generator the induced ac voltage is first converted to dc by using a commutator and the output is taken from the rotating commutator by using brushes. in case of alternator better insulation can provided if generated voltage are taken from stationary winding and the dc supply to field winding is provided by using brushes.

Answer / nandhini
in dc generator, rotor consists of armature conductor and stator consists of field windings.in ac generator, rotor consists of field magnet and stator consists of armature conductor. in dc generator commutator is used to convert it to dc but in ac generator no commutator is used. ac generators are also called as alternators. in dc generators split rings are used for phase displacement .in ac generators slip rings are used.

length of 4 core cable 95mm from substation LV VFD panel to Motor at field approximately 150 meter. Motor stop and power has been isolated from LV MCC ( Substation )to disconnect Motor for services. After Motor completed service propose to reinstall and reconnect Motor Cable, found earth cable sparkling during touching at metal / motor body. Inspect by clamp meter found earth cable have current flow AC 1-2amps and all earth cable at MCC LV also have current flow as same value. why it is happen?
