Answer / minal
In power projects, CT stands for current transformer & PT
stands for potential transformer. These transformers are
used for metering purposes.
CT is connected after or before circuit breaker to measure
the current flowing through circuit breaker.
PT is used for measuring voltages of line also.

in power system CT-current transformer,it is a device used
for reducing/stepping down ac current from higher valu to
lower valu for measurement/protection/control.PT-potential
transformer,it is a device used for reducing/stepping down
ac voltage from higher value to a lower value for
measurement/protection/control.

CT is called as current transformer and is used for
measuring current.it is always used in series.normally it's
secondary is rated 1A or 5A.
PT is called as potential tansformer and used for measuring
voltage.it is always used in parallel.normally it's
secondary is rated 110v.

CT- Current Transformer.
Its primary side is always connected in sereis with the
supply system . It normally steps down the current from high
value to low value.
PT- Potential Transformer.
Its primary side is always connected in parallel to the
supply system. It normally steps down the voltage from high
value to low value.
CT & PT are called instrument transformers and used for
metering and protection purpose.
