when ever u want other prompt display values based on the
selected one then we will go to the cascading prompt.
by using this actually we no need to create a filter for
this second query manually for the selected one in the
previous prompt.
it is the best feature provided by cognos.

Create Prompts on Product line and Product type.
while creating product type we give the cascading souce as
a product line for product type
we have options are there in the properties pane i.e
AUTOSUBMIT set as YES & MULTISELECT set as NO.
