EFR is a relay which it sense fault between the phase and earth. the main function of the relay is to operate for the leakage currents to earth. there are two type of earth fault relays:
1. residual current earth fault relay
2. sensitive earth fault relay

flow through the ground then it send signal to the circuit
breaker and it will automatically shut-down the equipments

An earth fault relay is activated by the fault current flowing from line to earth. Earth fault relay continuously measure the current.

Whenever the unbalanced current flow in the circuit the connected EFR sense that current and giving signal to the UV or shunt coil which is placed in the breaker.At that instant the breaker comes to Trip & break the supply.

Dear friends EFR and ELCB (Earth leakage circuit breaker) function is same but EFR is used to protect the heavy load or Transformer and ELCB is used for to protect the small load such as domestic load . if any mu friend is disagree with me please point out my fault thanks.
