Stress: Internal force per unit area.
Pressure: External force per unit area.

Answer / pubba
stress is the resisting force(R) developed per unit area(A)
inside any member when it is subjected to external force(F).
So,
stress=resisting force(R)/cross-sectional area of the
member(A)
But Pressure is the applied force(F)acting up on unit
area(A) of any member.
So,
Pressure=Applied force(F)/unit area(A).

stress, internal resistance developed per unit area.
pressure, force applied per unit area.
moment, bending force* distance from it is applied.
by this bendng effect produced.
torque, twisting force * distance from it is measured.
by this shearing effect produced.

When external force acts on abody an internal resistive
forces set up in the body to resist the diformatlon. The
ratio of this resistive forces to the area subjected to
that foces is defined as stess.
The term stress is related to solids only.
Where as in fluids the molecules ars not compactly placed
as solides thats why whenever forces act on fluid they
vibrates and try to escape. the ratio of this force to the
area under that force is the pressure.

Moment is perpendicular to cross section while torque acts
parallel to cross section

Answer / anurag
1. when ever a tensile or compressive force acts on a body
it tends to go under deformation , stress is the resistive
force per unit area offered by the body to avoid
deformation whereas pressure on a body is the external
force per unit area acting on the body
2. stress is material property whereas pressure is not.

stress is the intenal resistance offered by a body per unit
area.it is developed in solids. where as
pressure is force per unit area.it is developed in fluids.

Stress maybe parallel or perpendicular to the surface but pressure is always perpendicular to the surface.
Pressure create stress but not vice versa
