“Clearing and forwarding agent” means any person who is
engaged in providing any service, either directly or
indirectly, concerned with the clearing and forwarding
operations in any manner to any other person and includes a
consignment agent.”

Taxable service means any service provided to a client, by
a Clearing & Forwarding Agent in relation to clearing &
forwarding operations, in any manner.

&f agent is the carrying and forwarding agent.The
manufacturer will have the contact only with the c&f,they
are the one who gives the products to the wholesaler from
there it reaches to retailer and then to customer.For one
state there will be only one c&f agent

the commodity requires CHA(custom house

C&F , rolls not only to carrying and forwarding material from origin and to keep their hubs or w/h to meet the customer's requirement well in time but also plays roll not only in manufacturing company but also it is used to handle the export and import freight terms and conditions.
C&F roll in export or import as : Cost and freight without insurance, i.e. when we take order from customer with the condition the cost and freight included but we do not consider insurance in that cost. it is our responsibility to deliver the material ex works to customer's post without insurance. we will be responsible for all activities which is related to SCM except Insurance.

It is carrying and forwarding agency. They are working as a
media of impoter and expoter. Whey impoter import some
goods it comes first in a custom office for goods ligality
and make a duty of goods. But think is that as impoter they
can't do it. That's why they have need c and f agent. They
have right to releas the product form customs office and
put they are won place and after that according to ducomet
they dispass the goods to destinaiton. That's they are main
job.

C&F means clearing and forwarding of goods from Rack or
Godown to another place. that means they have to arrange
loading&unloading of goods and they have to arrange local
transportation of goods from Rack to Godown. clearing means
arrangement of loading&unloading and forwarding means local
transportation of goods. they are overall responsible of
goods damage while loading&unloading and overall
responsible of shortage of goods while transporting from
Rack or godown to certain destination.

C & F Agent works as an mediator between manufacturer &
Chain of distribution.As I think he has just a caretaker
for the goods.He acts on behalf of manufacturer.He is
entitled for commission only on the sold goods.

C&F agency , the concept clearance and forwarding are
different but the agency brings it under one umbrella.

In clearance the company is accredited with the local
customs authorities, border agencies etc. arranges to pass
the relevant documents at customs,
arrange for customs inspections as required,
check and process Duty and VAT payments as applicable,
apply for refunds etc where applicable,
cannot issue own bills of lading if not registered.

In forwarding , they store the cargo belonging to the
clients at warehouse and arrange the distribution as per the
demand of the client , negotiate freight rates with the
shipping line ,book the cargo with the shipping line as per
the requirement of the client , prepare bills of lading and
associated shipping/negotiating documentation etc ...
