What is the difference between rollup and scan?

What is the difference between rollup and scan?..

Answer / Amit Ranjan Kumar

Rollup is used for data summarization across multiple records, while Scan is a step type in Ab Initio that performs operations on each individual record. Rollup is useful when you want to calculate summary statistics like sum, count, min, max etc., whereas Scan is more suited for processing each record individually.
