fly ash is a pozzolanic material which is added to reduce the permeability of concrete.fly ash react with ca(oH)2 and form C-S-H gel.admixtures are material other than C-A-W,added to improve the property of concrete(fresh as well as harden).
Fly ash is added to reduce the heat of hydaration and increase intial setting time.various type of admixture s are available like normal water reducer,high range water reducer,air entraining agents,retarder,accelerator etc.
commonly used admixtures are-cacl2,zncl2,sodium salt of wood resin,artificial detergent.
