what is the use of providing earthing for tanks? i know for
lightning we use earthing ? Here one of my ONGC project
there is no need of lightning protection and there is no
power connection near by tank in that situation also ONGC
asking earthing for tanks but we didn't understanding why
they asking earthing? is anybody tell exact answer?

All the bulk storage tanks need be bonded to earth. This is known as bonding.when any liquid is poured from one source to tank,then static charge will flow.that is why bonding is required.

We know that, in case if there is a faulty insulation,or sc, the current is bypassed to earth through the earth wire that has low resistance.Actually, what will happen to that current that flows through gnd?In that case,if we come in contact with that faulty appliance, wont that current flow through us as we form a closed path by standing in gnd?Is grounding a safety measure?
