How to distinguish between the armature wires with the field wires of a Dc motor ?..

Answer / shahbaz shaikh

in the above answer he told that the field winding is in
rotor but it is wrong because the field winding is wound on
the stator incase of d.c motor and it is stationary and the
armature winding or counductor placed in the armature slots
and the external supllay is given to the field winding and
it will produce the rotating magneting field.

How to distinguish between the armature wires with the field wires of a Dc motor ?..

Answer / mrinal kumar

Field wire/ winding- it is used as a primary source of flux when current is passed through it. It is also called as exciting current. The current flowing through it is always dc.

Armature wire/ winding-it is an arrangement of conductors in which emf is induced. Practically armature winding is placed on the stator while field winding is placed on the rotor

How to distinguish between the armature wires with the field wires of a Dc motor ?..

Answer / mrinal kumar

friend field winding is wound on the rotor only and yes dc supply is given to the field winding which will lead to the rotating magnetic field

How to distinguish between the armature wires with the field wires of a Dc motor ?..

Answer / mrinal kumar

see, starting current is very high in dc motor & is nearly equal to the supply voltage. and since supply is given to the field winding so you can say starting current is high in field winding and thus its reistance value is very small or negligible. Armature current flowing through armature winding is connected to the load so depending upon the load current its value fluctuates.
