earting and grounding ia same thing.
but earthing and neutral r different.
earthing means grounding the body of any instrument.
but nu\eutral means neutral point of star connection

neutral line as it name indicates it is always neutral. there is no pd between two neutral line( pd=0 )in the case of phase there 'll be a pd. but on considering the earth line which is connected to the metal parts of the equipment. if there is happen to be a short circuit it generate a pd between other two lines.
second one is earth line is not an actual return path of the current.when we apply more equipment in our connection in the home and we use earth wire instead of neutral the proper current and voltage will be less. actual there is less pd b/n earth and phase.

I THINK NEUTRAL IS THE WIRE WHERE CURRENT RETURNS IN NORMAL ALTERNATING CURRENT FROM PHASE TERMINAL WHERE AS NEUTRAL IS THE PATH WHERE FAULT CURRENTS WAY.

neutral is for completion of ckt .
but earthing is for protection .
both in case of balanced supply ,but problem occur if there is noise of some unbalance at that time neutral& earth take overthe prob by making them to eath ,that is why internally genetated or 2 neutral are made earth at transformer.

Earth has a Zero Potential. It is uses only Safety Purposes. But Neutral has a returning path of current. But Neutral and Earth has a some Voltage difference ( Ex. 0 to 3 Volts ) But we fount a proper Neutral for Domestic purpose.Neutral Must be Ground.

Answer / nawaz
neutral is a return path of a conductor,
It's should be always zero volt, how we can stabilize 0volt we have to connect earhing to this neutral, standardly we not give balanceing load.
Suppose we re not this earhing circular current will flow in neutral wire,
Finally both are same

Neutral: actualy electricity is the form of energy & energy
never stops so it always flow & use the shortest path,if
its flow through the path we design we says that path as
machines but still it has follow its own path & that is
losses so i/p= o/p+losses for this closed loop neutral is
necessary to make the closed path for flow of energy if
this is interal design of circuit we says neutral.
Earth: actualy earth (surface) is behaves like a possitive
charged & eneryf always flow from high potential to low
means every thing in universe is trying to get its
equilibriem condition so same in electricity if we conect
the earth it behaves like a nutral in ckt.means return path
for open loops this make the closed ckt.& ur equipements
start.
to undersatand better just take an eg: of 3 phase star
system without neutral their one phase will behave like a
return path. means closed ckt loop.
thats why to protect the equipements & human always earth
is important example surge or lightining.
