Design Mix Proportion includes cement, sand, aggregate,
water and admixtures for getting high compressive strength
of concrete with suitable proportions. generally in
different locations the properties of these materials is
different so aviod the genaralproportion like 1:2:4 or
1:1.5:3 various samples are taken randomly upto getting
good results mix design can be done.

design mix normally used in all works like Mass Concreting,
Concrete PAvements & Bridges, Dams, Flyovers and huge
structures

over m25 grade.they are used for dams, skyscrapers,mass
construction etc

For Design Mix there is no proportion. Volume mix does. We have to calculate the weight of the cement, fine and coarse aggregate to achieve the target strength.

Design mix proportion is the proportion of concrete ingredients i.e. cement, sand,aggregate and water which is designed by trying different combinations of ingredients so as to achieve higher strength with economical design.
