why core is useful for the transformer and in its operation
Transformer works on electromagnetism that is mutual inductance. If the voltage of primary is varied, the effect is felt by secondary but this 'effect' (flux) has to be transferred to the secondary first. It means the core is responsible for the connection of flux from primary to secondary hence it is made of conductor sheets.
