if 3 phase motor connected to single phase supply ,single
phasing happen in motor and motor will take high current
.3pphase motor require 3 phase supply for producing roating
magnetic field.so do not connect 3phase motor to single phase

a 3 phase machine is used for high power application and the rotating magnetic field is created by the 3 phases hence when it is connected to a single phase supply we will not be able to create a rotating magnetic field unless the field is connected along with a capacitor or inductor to create a phase difference. but whena single phase machine is connected because of the inherent phase lag between the various phase of supply.

If single phase 230 V is available then motor will not
start.
If single phase 440 v is availbale then also motor will not
start.
